About Me
Welcome to my e-portfolio!
Hi! I’m Matthew, an Economics student who likes to deal in data-driven problem solving, film, and the NBA. As a 4th-year student in the Bachelor of International Economics (BIE), I approach these interests with a strong foundation in behavioral economics, statistics, and econometrics–tools that I hope to one day apply to a career in data science within the space of tech & professional sports.
My interests reflect a love of competition, passion for storytelling, and desire to align people with the environments that will help them achieve monumental goals.
Outside of class, I serve as the Vice-President for the Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity at UBC. This means I work alongside the President to coordinate professional conferences, sports tournaments, philanthropic outreach, chapter fundraising, alumni mentoring, and an organizational culture in line with a unified vision to be UBC’s premier developer of principled business leaders.
I have a ton of ways I like to unwind. My more consistent interests are playing intramurals basketball and browsing movies on Letterboxd–a platform for social film discovery. As the summer winds down, however, I’ve been spending more time diving into the rich fantasy worlds of Magic: The Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons.
