Constructing a North America Employee Roster from Regional Databases

My culminating project with Digital Domain 3.0 was leading the biweekly construction of an 800+ artist roster by accurately querying Oracle Human Capital Management and Shotgun Management databases before producing a dashboard on Excel using Pivot Charts. The end result was the streamlining of roster construction from 1 week to 2 days.

Context

Digital Domain conducts operations across the world in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Montreal, Hyderabad, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei. These studios independently manage their human capital databases, leading to different standards of data collection and maintenance. Although functional on a local scale, this discrepancy presents a problem to executives and other users who wish to leverage data at the country-level.

My Role

The primary workflow consisted of the following steps:

  • A SQL information request for the latest human-capital databases in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Montreal
  • Reformatting the databases to fit a uniform standard
  • Cleaning the data
  • Collating data from the three studios into one large file, and creating filters for each location
  • Summarizing the exploratory data analysis in a set of pivot tables and charts
